decoration or water and electricity renovation, many people will encounter such questions: "Can PE wire pipe be directly set with PVC pipe?" Both are plastic pipes, which look similar in appearance, but in fact, from material to function, there are many "incompatible" problems. Today we will explain this problem from three most critical angles.
First of all, we have to understand: the "temper" of PE and PVC pipes is different. PE wire pipe is made of polyethylene, like the texture of soft water pipes, which is particularly flexible and will not crack after a few bends; PVC pipe is polyvinyl chloride, which is hard and will ring when knocked, but it is very brittle and will break if broken with force. More important is the "amplitude" of thermal expansion and contraction - the expansion coefficient of PE pipe is about 1.5 times larger than that of PVC pipe. For example, when the temperature is high in summer, the PE pipe will swell more obviously. If it is set in a PVC pipe, either the PVC casing will be deformed, or when the temperature drops and the PE pipe is retracted, a gap will be left at the connection, which is the "source" of hidden dangers in the later stage.
The second point is the problem of "strong connection". The core function of the wire pipe sleeve is to "seal" and "fix", but the connection method of PE and PVC is not compatible at all. PE pipes are generally connected with hot melt or special rubber rings, and PVC pipes have to be glued - if you plug the PE wire pipe into the PVC sleeve, PVC glue is completely useless for PE pipes, and hot melt cannot melt the two materials together. Such a connection is equivalent to "unsealed": water, dust and even small bugs can get in, weak current lines (such as network lines) will be disturbed, and strong power lines may also cause short circuits due to ash.
The third point is "whether the scene is suitable". PE line pipes are originally used for weak electricity, such as network lines and telephone lines, because they are flexible and can easily bypass corners and furniture; PVC line pipes are used for strong electricity, such as wires, because they are hard and can withstand the pressure of cement or tiles. If the PE line pipe is put into the PVC pipe, it will "waste" the advantage of the PE pipe - the original flexible bending PE pipe, put on the hard PVC pipe, it is more likely to break during construction, but it will affect the smoothness of the line.
There is also a hidden problem: the aging speed is different. PE pipe has better anti-aging ability than PVC pipe, especially in places with ultraviolet rays, PVC pipe will become brittle and crack faster. If the PE line pipe is put in the PVC pipe for a long time, the PVC pipe will age and crack first, but it will not play a protective role. At that time, it will have to be refurbished, which is more troublesome.
Is there any way to solve it? In fact, it is very simple: either "match the same material" - PE line pipe uses PE sleeve, PVC line pipe uses PVC sleeve; or use a special "PE-PVC adapter", which can connect the pipes of the two materials firmly, which not only solves the problem of thermal expansion and contraction, but also ensures sealing.
finally summarize: PE line pipe do not directly set PVC pipe, it seems to save a little trouble, but in fact buried a bunch of hidden dangers. Whether it is decoration or engineering, "the same material" is always the safest choice, really want to cross the material, use special accessories, do not figure for a while to break the later things.
